Sunningdale New Course June 2026
How can you improve a fantastic course? Well Gil Hanse has found a way with his recent changes to the New course at Sunningdale.
Sometimes it is worth getting up early, to see the mist roll through the trees, this is the 7th hole with the 6th green in the foreground and the London skyline on the horizon. The Wembley arch nearly 20 miles away can be seen if you look carefully and zoom in above the 7th green.
It all started in 1923
Harry Colt was asked to extend the original chauffeurs course in 1921 and the course was opened in November 1923. It was to see many changes before the Second World War, with Simpson adding new holes and Colt and Morisson changing the layout again in 1939. Gil Hanse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gil_Hanse and his company https://www.hansegolfdesign.com carried out a restoration in 2025 which is now growing in and will look magnificent when the heather is in bloom in the summer.
